Caregiver Accused of Killing Elderly with Drugs Sold Without Prescription – Pharmacists Under Investigation
Italy: Fake Caregiver Arrested for Murder – Two Pharmacists Involved
Vicenza authorities have arrested a woman accused of killing elderly individuals under her care by administering prescription psychiatric drugs obtained illegally. Posing as a caregiver, she allegedly gave high doses of benzodiazepines, leading to fatal poisonings and severe health damage in some cases. The investigation began after the suspicious death of an 81-year-old woman, uncovering additional deaths and attempted poisonings linked to the suspect.
Two pharmacists are also under investigation for illegally selling benzodiazepines without prescriptions. Authorities discovered that over 270 boxes of the drug were purchased in a single year. As a result, the Vicenza Prosecutor’s Office has banned them from practicing for one year. If convicted, they face drug trafficking charges. The suspect remains in custody, and the pharmacies involved have been searched for further evidence. The case highlights serious concerns about the illegal distribution of controlled substances.
